Working collaboratively to enhance the quality of life for nearly 800,000 people along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) is seeking two exceptional individuals for summer internships.
The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) is the Council of Governments and Metropolitan Planning Organization for a region of nearly 800,000 people in Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties of Indiana and part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. NIRPC provides a forum that enables the citizens of Northwest Indiana to address regional issues relating to transportation, the environment, and economic development.
A full-time, ten-week internship (from approximately mid-June to mid-August) that will help NIRPC with the development of the 2050 Plan. Internship activities may include some or all of the following planning activities:
a) Transportation, demographic, or economic data gathering and analysis.
b) Public engagement support and data collection and
c) Opportunities to attend, participate, and present in public outreach activities and meetings with a wide variety of public officials.
Hourly compensation: Undergraduate students $10; graduate students $12
