TRANSPORTATION INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT NIRPC

Internship Title: Planning Intern  

Organization: Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC), the council of governments for a three-county region of 750,000 people, part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area.  

Reports To: Director of Planning  

Job Description: An internship will include work in some or all of the following areas:  
    - Assist staff in collecting traffic data.  
    - Research crash data.  
    - Assist in preparing for Future of Northwest Indiana Summit  
    - Research and prepare an annual list of transportation projects, with
      photographs of example projects.  
    - Assist communities and school districts prepare applications for the “Safe
      Routes to School” program.
