Welcome to the Northwestern
Indiana Regional Planning Commission Website
|
 |
At this website you will find lots of useful
information about NIRPC, and what we're doing for northwest Indiana and
its communities. Please
note that requests for NIRPC reports in alternate format may
be directed to the report's author or to nirpc@nirpc.org.
NIRPC is a regional council of local
governments serving the three counties of northwest Indiana. The northwest
Indiana region is an integral part of the greater Chicago metropolitan
area. NIRPC provides a forum that enables the citizens of northwest
Indiana to address regional issues relating to transportation, the
environment and community and economic development.
NIRPC is designated the Metropolitan
Planning Organization (MPO) for northwest Indiana.
As
the MPO, NIRPC is responsible for coordinating the urban transportation
planning process for the region. We conduct this process in
cooperation with
regional transportation stakeholders, the Indiana Department of Transportation,
and federal highway, transit, and environmental agencies.
This website and the information it contains
are provided as a public service by NIRPC. Although the NIRPC website is
